Sunny's Photo Studio

 

Here I want to introduce you to one of the most magical places in Second Life, and I'm not talking fantasy sceneries and castles with wizards... I mean the richest photo studio that I have ever come accross!

I am sure you have heard about Sunny's here and there, and now you will finally know what the hype is all about!


First, a word from Sunny...

"Sunny's Photo Studio, serving SL and the blogger community of SL since 2013.

Offering a unique studio, filled with over 3000 backdrops and with a ever expanding number of poses for your photographic needs. 

Male, Female, Couples, Family, Kids, Friends, and Groups poses "OH MY". You name it, we have it. There is many scenes for the romantics, those who display their inner geek, and for you to create your fantasy image.

Landing Point

The first stop is the Studio Teleporter. Here you can find a bunch of information, the rules, some tools, warnings, links, whatever you can think of and more! 


Surrounded by a few art exhibitions and sales cabins, this kiosk is also in the middle of an amazing sim offering hundreds of beautiful photo opportunities, from Japanese Flower Gardens to an Amusement park... and so many things in between! You are sure to find a perfect spot for so many of your photos.









The Shopping Mall


On the other side of the sim, you can even find some boutiques! The place is gorgeous as a backdrop itself, of course, I shot my iconic fall in front of Sunny's café ;) 

But more importantly, the boutiques here are all focussed on catering to the photographer's needs : Lighting solutions, poses, shapes, some clothes and accessories... Even music! It's well worth the visit and/or to establish a small shop near the thousands of photographers who use the studio everyday!


The Studios

Back to the landing point is where you can find the famous teleporter! This board will be your principal means of transportation throughout the different studio parts. Click on the desired location, wait for a beam and hit it too to get there.




When you get to one of the categories, you will find a new board (also called a booth or a rezzing board) where you can scroll through poses. When you are ready to pick one : hit the red button, find the matching number and it will appear for you! 



  Then you get to sit on the backdrop...               Pick a pose, adjust, find a good angle...
           


     Set your lighting...                                            Change your mind... 
           


                   Adjust AGAIN...                                  Edit...                         ...too much???!!!
          
                        


And voilà! 


DO NOT FORGET to clear your scene!!!! Lag is real... we need to fight it together! 

This is a major offence, with a major punishment : 10 days ban :( 
This is basically torture when you just get into taking photos at Sunny's! 
But trust me, you will not forget again!!! -True Story.



Freestanding Backdrops


Throughout the different studio levels, you can find the different gacha backdrops displayed around, as the permissions don't allow them to be used in the rezzers. You can use those with your own poses or use the ones included when they come with. They are close to one another, but you can easily derrender the others and/or the backgrounds to make them seem appear standing alone. Then use the sky as a background, or rezz your own! 



If you liked a backdrop from the pose booths, but wanted to do something different than the setup at the scene, you can go to the freestanding rezzable level too.

Sunny made sure to offer instructions and even a database of all the backdrops right on place. It's the wardrobe link you can get by clicking on the sign. Everything is in alphabetical order so it's easy to find! You can find all the same backdrop that are used throughout the pose levels.



The rezzing booths are different, you only see the red button since you got the whole repertoire on the wardrobe link: 



Community <3


What you will come to find out when you join Sunny's Photo Studio is that it is so much more than a sim with thousands of backdrops... There is an amazing community of photographers, models and bloggers sharing pieces, photography tips, shopping founds and of course, their love for the art! 

You will first feel it in the inworld group, Sunny's Studio picture snappers. There is a very reasonable price -500L- to join the group, keeping trolls away ;) When you join to use the facilities, you cannot help but notice all the group talks, shares and the magic that operates here! Everybody is respectful and people from all backgrounds and all levels of photography are welcomed and appreciated!

But soon enough, you will notice how the group extends to other platforms... You can find Sunny's on Facebook, Discord and Flickr, but people share their art from many others... Instagram, DeviantArt, Blogger, Wordpress... Only rule is to share photos taken at Sunny's!

The whole community will make you feel at home and help you grow into your art or your work as soon as you start exploring the sim and take part in the discussions in group! Time to meet some amazing artists and wonderful people @ Sunny's!

cam -VS- zoom

  This is my favorite tip EVER! It comes from Xavier , an amazing RL and SL photographer who you might know inworld. (He also introduced me to Sunny's!)  This little trick gave me so much control over my photos and made it way more fun to do some shots that looked much better, so easily:  Learn to play with both your camera distance and the zoom! Obviously if you use the Camera controls, maybe you already do...  But if you are like me, always camming with Alt and mouse, you might not have a perfect understanding on the difference between the distance and zoom or how to do each one. Distance is pretty simple, you move closer, you move away... But when doing this, just like your eyes, the camera will distort your image, as the perspective changes with a different point of view. That's what happens when you want to do a beautiful closeup and you have such a different face you rather back away! See the nose is much bigger and the shoulders look very narrow. It looks like...

Fix for SL alpha glitches!!!

  It happened to all of us... The perfect expression, perfect angle, the light hits beautifully on your avatar.... And the gorgeous bangs hide your lashes!!!! Not cause they're behind it, but because of the alpha surrounding the hair, glitching on cam like only SL can do!!!  Now I don't claim to own the best tip or even a tip that might work every single time... But I did use this technique to fix hair glitches fairly easily and even switch only one foot's position out of two (before they could be positioned separately) (...or before I knew they could??) and it does the trick pretty well so I want to share it with you!!!  This will seem too easy, but you need to plan ahead a little... So when you go to take your wonderful shot and notice this nasty alpha glitch, still take it! And then Re-Take, without hair! How can this help, you say? Well you can use the bald version as a corrective layer to your photo! put one above the other and erase slightly until you get the desire...
